RAILWAY WAGON REPLICAS

The Museum of Movement is a passion project of Mr. T. R. Raghunandan – an international development and governance consultant and Founder of Avantika Foundation. The museum will showcase miniature models of
significant Indian Railway trains from the last 100 years, thus, preserving the beautiful machines and their memories forever.

The focus of this project was to modernize the process of model making, to take advantage of the changes in small scale manufacturing in the last few decades, and enable us to produce high fidelity models of Indian Railways.

Painstaking detail, over 120+ components not including fasteners, precision bent from sheet metal using custom tools.

Model Making

The models were made with painstaking precision down to the last detail and bolthole. Over 120+ components not including rivets & NBW, precision bent from sheet metal using custom-made tools.

To ensure the textures were accurate at 1:16th scale, I used Serial Lithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing to create the effect of sand-cast iron on the wheel sides. We then poured RTV silicone moulds for replicating the wheels and axles in epoxy resin.
